Audi Field Bag Policy: Complete Guide for DC United & Washington Spirit Fans (2025)

Audi Field Bag Policy

Audi Field, home to D.C. United and the Washington Spirit, is one of Washington, DC's premier sports and entertainment venues. Located in the vibrant Buzzard Point neighborhood, this modern stadium hosts Major League Soccer matches, NWSL games, concerts, and special events throughout the year. To expedite entry into Audi Field, we strongly encourage fans not to bring bags to the stadium. Understanding the venue's bag policy before you arrive is essential for a smooth, hassle-free entry experience and ensures you can focus on enjoying the action on the field.

Whether you're attending your first match or you're a seasoned supporter, knowing what you can and cannot bring into Audi Field will save you time at the gates and prevent any disappointment. The stadium has implemented specific bag restrictions to enhance security and streamline the entry process for all guests.

What Bags Are Allowed at Audi Field?

Audi Field maintains a strict bag size policy to ensure efficient security screening and quick entry for all fans. If you must bring a bag to the stadium, it can be no larger than 14″ by 14″ by 6″. Here's what you need to know about acceptable bags:

  • Maximum Bag Size: 14″ x 14″ x 6″ (length x width x depth)
  • Drawstring/Cinch Bags: Cinch bags that fit the size restriction will be allowed
  • Clear Bags: Clear bags that fit the size restriction will be allowed
  • Small Clutches: Small clutch purses measuring up to 4.5″ x 6.5″ are permitted
  • Medical Bags: If you have certain items that you need to bring into a stadium for medical reasons and they will not fit in a 14″ by 6″ by 14″ bag, there will be a separate entrance to allow screenings of these bags and medically necessary items
  • Diaper Bags: Diapers and wipes can be carried in any bag that meets our bag policy. However, large diaper bags are not permitted.

Fans with medical needs should email Audi Field's Guest Experience team prior to matchday to ensure a smooth and quick egress experience. You can reach them at guestexperience@dcunited.com.

Prohibited Items

Audi Field prohibits several types of bags and items to maintain safety and security standards. Here's what you cannot bring into the venue:

  • Backpacks: No backpacks, coolers or luggage are allowed
  • Oversized Bags: Coolers, luggage, or other similar bags that exceed the size restriction are not permitted
  • Large Purses: Any purse exceeding the 14″ x 14″ x 6″ size limit
  • Bicycle Helmets: While you are not permitted to bring bicycle helmets into Audi Field, per our Bag Policy, you may store them safely with your bike at the complimentary bike valet
  • Umbrellas: Umbrellas are not permitted
  • Camera Bags: Camera bags are not permitted inside Audi Field unless they are compliant with the bag policy
  • Outside Food and Beverages: Generally prohibited, with exceptions for medical needs
  • Professional Camera Equipment: Lenses over 8 inches, tripods, and monopods (unless credentialed media)

Fans carrying bags that do not meet the bag policy criteria will be turned away from the stadium. It's crucial to check your bag dimensions before leaving home to avoid any entry issues.

Tips for a Smooth Entry

Planning ahead can make your Audi Field experience much more enjoyable. Here are practical tips to ensure quick entry and a stress-free matchday:

Leave Your Bag at Home: The fastest way to enter the stadium is to arrive without a bag. To expedite entry into Audi Field, we strongly encourage fans not to bring bags to the stadium. We will have dedicated no-bag and bag lanes at each gate to help streamline the process.

Use Locker Storage: If you must bring items that don't comply with the bag policy, Audi Field has also partnered with Binbox Lockers to allow customers to rent lockers for $12 using a keyless locking system app (available on iOS or Android). Additionally, Binbox lockers will be available outside of the gates for fans to store their non-compliant bags.

Prepare Your Bag for Inspection: Remove any jackets or other large, bulky items from your bag and carry these in hand. This helps security personnel conduct faster screenings.

Arrive Early: Give yourself extra time, especially if you're bringing a bag. Security lines for guests with bags may be longer than no-bag lanes.

Download Mobile Tickets: In order to make Audi Field a more secure venue for our fans, all tickets must be accessed from a mobile device. You must download your ticket to your Apple or Google Pay Wallet before arriving at the stadium.

Contact Guest Services in Advance: If you have special circumstances, medical needs, or questions about what you can bring, Guests can email guestexperience@dcunited.com with any bag and backpack questions.

Know Your Transportation Options: Audi Field is conveniently located at the Navy Yard Metro station on the Green Line. D.C. United offers a complimentary bike valet service located at the corner of T Street and 2nd Street SW that will open 30 minutes prior to gates. The Bike Valet will close 45 minutes after the game ends. Using public transportation or biking means you won't need to carry as many items.

By following these guidelines and planning ahead, you'll breeze through security and maximize your time enjoying the excitement at Audi Field. Whether you're cheering on D.C. United, supporting the Washington Spirit, or attending a concert, understanding the bag policy ensures your matchday experience starts on the right foot.
